Sleeping Positions with Images and Their Effects on Health

1. On Your Back, Arms at Sides

Sleeping on your back with your arms at your side is generally considered to be the best sleeping position for spine health and it’s good for your neck, too, as long as you don’t use too many pillows. That said, back sleepers tend to snore more than those in any other position and sleep apnea is strongly associated with sleeping on the back.

2. On Your Back, Arms Up

This so-called “starfish” position is also good for the back. Whether you have your arms up around your pillow or not, sleeping on your back may also help to prevent facial wrinkles and skin breakouts. However, like the arms-down back sleeping position, this one can also result in snoring and problems with acid reflux. Plus, having your arms up can put pressure on nerves in your shoulders, leading to pain.

3. Face Down

Sleeping on your stomach can improve digestion but unless you’ve developed a way to breathe through your pillow, it most likely leads to you tilting your face in one direction or the other. This can put a lot of strain on the neck. Sleeping face down can also cause back pain, as the curve of the spine is not supported.

4. Fetal Position

Sleeping all curled up into a ball with your knees drawn up and your chin tilted down might be comfortable but it’s probably one of the worst sleeping positions to consider as it can do a number on your back and neck.
The extreme curl of the fetal position can also restrict deep breathing. That considered, sleeping like a fetus can have you sleeping like a baby if you typically have problems with snoring or if you’re pregnant.

5. On Side, Arms at Sides

When you’re sleeping on your side with both arms down, the spine is best supported in its natural curve. This can definitely help reduce back and neck pain while also reducing sleep apnea. The downside? Sleeping on the side can contribute to skin aging due to gravity, meaning facial wrinkles and sagging breasts

6. On Side, Arms Out

This position has many of the same benefits of sleeping on your side with your arms straight down. However, any side sleeping can cause shoulder and arm pain due to restricted blood flow and pressure on the nerves, which may be exacerbated by having your arms out in front of you.

7. On the Right Side

If you’re a side-sleeper, which side you sleep on also makes a difference. Sleeping on the right side can worsen heartburn while sleeping on the left side can put strain on internal organs like the liver, lungs, and stomach (while minimizing acid reflux). For pregnant sleepers, doctors typically advise sleeping on the left side, since this can improve circulation to the fetus.

8. Pillow-Supplemented

Choosing a proper sleeping position is important but regardless of which sleeping position you prefer, it’s highly likely that you can get a better night’s rest with less pain in the morning by supplementing your body with a pillow.
Back sleepers can put a small pillow under the arch of their spine, side sleepers can place a pillow between their knees, and stomach sleepers can place a pillow under their hips to support the joints and allow for full, pain-free relaxation.
Of all the sleeping positions mentioned, which one gives you the best night’s rest without pain?

[Semi BULLET TRAIN] High Speed Train in India and Advanced Technology

High Speed Train in India
Railways were the first form of rapid land transportation. They monopolized the carrying percentage of passenger traffic till cars and airlines became popular in the early mid of 20th century. Speed was always the main challenging factor for railroads and constant efforts are being made increase the travel speed and decrease the travel time of passengers.
Speed train could cut the travel time between metro areas, alleviate traffic congestion, boosting economic growth and reducing greenhouse gas emission.

High speed rail transport is quicker than traditional rail traffic. It uses an integrated system of specialized rolling stock and tracks. The first speed rail was introduced in Japan during the year, 1964. And it was known as a bullet train over there. High speed trains ply on standard gauge tracks of continuously welded rail on grade- separated right-of-way that incorporates a large turning radius in its design. Many countries have developed high speed rail to connect major cities. High speed rail is usually designed for passenger travel. It can also be used for freight service.

High Speed train moving from Delhi to Agra:
This train is having a speed of 160kmph. It is equipped with an electric locomotive of 5,400HP. One can reach from Delhi to Agra in just 90 minutes. Normally it takes 2-3 hours to reach Agra from Delhi. When it was test trialed, it took 100 minutes instead of 90 minutes. It reached Agra at around 1 p.m. Senior railway officials including Commissioner Railway Safety and Divisional Railway Manager of Delhi and Agra, were present in the train for trial run.

Real High Speed Trains
India has one of the largest rail networks in the world. But, it does not have any high speed rail line which can give a speed of 200 km/h or more. Currently India is focusing on high speed railway tracks so that Indian rails can run faster on current tracks with a maximum speed of 160 to 200 km/h, with an average of 130km/h.
Few of the countries in the world are using powerful electromagnets to develop high speed trains. These trains are known as ‘maglev trains’. ‘Maglev is short form of Magnetic Levitation. It means that these trains will practically float over guideways using the basic principles of magnets to replace the old steel wheel and track trains.

Electromagnetic suspension:
It is the typical Magnetic property that opposite poles attract each other and similar poles repel each other. This forms the basics of electromagnetic propulsion. Electromagnets, property wise, are similar to other magnets but unlike natural magnets they acquire magnetic property by application of electrical power. They attract metal object but, the magnetic pull remains temporary and over the duration of applied electrical power. It works by simple rule. An electromagnet can be created by connecting a copper wire to the positive and negative ends of an AA, C or D-cell battery which creates a small magnetic field. If one disconnects either end of the wire from the battery, the magnetic field is taken away. The magnetic field created this way forms the idea of a maglev train rail system. There are three components to this system : a electrical power source, metal coils lining on a guideway or track and large magnets attached to the underside of the train.
The big difference between a maglev train and a conventional train is that maglev trains do not have an engine. It does not use fossil fuel to power itself . Rather, it runs because of magnetic field. The magnetized coil running along the track is called a ‘guideway’ and is responsible to repel the large magnets on the train’s under carriage. This allows the train to levitate between 0.39 to 0.93 inches    ( 1 to 10 cm) above the guideway. Once the train gets levitate, power is supplied to the coils within the guideway walls to create a special regime of magnetic fields. This helps to create requisite pull and push to glide the train along the guideway. The electric current supplied to the coils of the guideway wall is altered continuously to change the polarity of the magnetized coil. This change in polarity results to pull the vehicle forward. The magnetic field behind the train is kept at high level to provide more forward thrust.

Maglev train eliminate friction as it floats on the air. This lack of friction and aerodynamic design of these trains allow them to reach up to the speed of 310 mph or 500 kph. Developers say that maglev trains will eventually connect cities that are 1,000 miles apart. With 310 mph speed. With this High Speed Train one can reach in two hours from Paris to Rome.

Electrodynamic Suspension (EDS):
Japanese engineers are developing a competing version of maglev trains that use an electrodynamic suspension system (EDS). It is also based on the repelling force of magnets. The key difference between German and Japanese maglev trains is that Japanese trains use a special electromagnet which is super cooled and super conducting . These magnets are having special property which helps them retaining electromagnetic property even after the power supply has been shut off. This system of Japan saves energy by chilling the coils at frigid temperatures. However, the system to cool the coils can itself be very expensive .

10 Happiness Tips for Busy Life People

“Life is what happens while you are making other plans.” ~John Lennon
I am someone who enjoys doing a lot of different things, and yet I don’t always enjoy being busy. Sometimes when my schedule gets full, I feel almost as if I’ve lost a part of me.
Just like some people become codependent in relationships, I can be codependent with work. When it has my attention, everything else can easily fall to the wayside—my social life, my hobbies, you name it.
It’s all too easy to get caught up in a riptide of doing without ever evaluating what you’re sacrificing, why, and if it’s actually in your best interest.

Sometimes it is worth it, though you might need to make minor adjustments to enjoy the journey more. Other times you need to make major changes to experience the happiness you might think you’re chasing.
Here’s what I’ve been doing to ensure my busy-ness doesn’t compromise my happiness:

1. Assess just how busy you’re willing to be.

New research indicates that a key indicator of happiness is the distance between the hours you’d like to work and the hours you actually do. If you don’t want to work more than forty hours per week because you have a hobby you’re passionate about, but you’re working over three hours more than that, you will inevitably feel dissatisfied.
In some cases, this may be beyond your control. If you just can’t afford your mortgage unless you push yourself, that’s one thing. But sometimes you do have a choice; you just think it’s too difficult to make it. Downsizing or moving into a new place may seem like an unnecessary hassle, but it’s worth the uncomfortable transition if it allows you to do with your time as you’d like.

2. Consider whether your schedule conflicts with your priorities.

When you have internal or external conflict, it’s difficult to maintain your center and sense of joy. If fitness is a priority but you’re working sixty hours a week, leaving you little time to exercise, you will feel conflicted. Even if you want to keep working hard, you’ll feel frustrated that you’re not meeting your own needs.
If you absolutely can’t scale back your work to allow for regular exercise, consider rearranging things to make exercise easier. Wake up twenty minutes earlier for a quick job; something is better than nothing. Or see if you can take a class during your lunch break. Happiness is honoring you needs—all or most of them.

3. Be sure your goals align with your values.

Most people would prefer not to overwhelm their lives with work, but oftentimes we push ourselves because we have our eye on the prize, so to speak. There’s nothing wrong with having a dream and working toward it; but if you’re going to sacrifice much of your now for later, be sure you’re really headed where you want to go.
Does the future you envision align with your values in life? If your family is one of your top priorities, but achieving your goal might compromise that, all your busy-ness might lead you somewhere that doesn’t truly make you happy.

4. Find joy in the way things are.

Oftentimes when we’re busy, we’re fixated on the way things can be, should be, or will be on the other side of overexertion. It’s all too easy to get caught up in a race toward some fantasy tomorrow that inevitably will fall short of your expectations. Someday dreams usually do because they’re more about avoiding the present than building the future.
Regardless of how things might be after your efforts pay off, life always takes place in the present. You never know what the future holds—whether or not you’ll still have good health or the people you love will still be around. The opportunity to enjoy those things is now. Find the time to appreciate and engage with them, even if only in small doses.

5. Make time for relationships.

Studies have shown that the quality of our relationships correlates directly with our overall sense of happiness. Sometimes while we’re working toward a larger life we forget to do the things that remind us we’re part of something larger than ourselves. We need meaningful contact with other people to feel fully alive. We need interaction, engagement, and the time to just be in the presence of other.
Make time for people, even if it’s just a quick meal. It’s worth sacrificing your working lunch to experience life outside your office.

6. Allow yourself completely disconnected time.

This can be difficult in the Internet age when work can seem like an around-the-clock commitment. At least that’s my experience. I’ve checked my email at 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM and every time in between. I know that I won’t ever bookmark work between 9:00 and 5:00. But sometimes I need to shut off.
We all do. We all need complete breaks from work where we can be fully present in something else. Whether it’s an afternoon at the movies, a yoga class, or a complete day and night of relaxation, compartmentalizing life for a while can be rejuvenating.

7. Say no liberally.

Saying no is hard when you want to please people. You might assume only spineless, needy people struggle with this, but the truth is, we all do. None of us want to disappoint people, and on some level we all want approval.
Just like on airplane you need to put your own mask on before helping someone else, we need to take care of our needs before we can even begin to be valuable for other people. We need time to decompress, do what we love, and just plain call the shots, without reacting to other people’s needs.

8. Prioritize rest.

In a perfect world, we’d all sleep eight hours a night. We’re best equipped to handle life’s challenges when we’re not fatigued. But sometimes that’s not an option. When you are exhausted, take care of yourself using these tips to function better when you’re tired.
To the best of your ability, take time to nap, meditate, or practice deep breathing. A past yoga instructor once told me a certain pose was the equivalent of a good night’s sleep. I don’t know if I believe that entirely, but I do know certain yoga poses help me shut off my mind to fall asleep sooner at night.

9. Expel less mental energy.

This is a good practice in life in general—one I need to constantly work at—but it’s especially helpful when you’re busy. If your circumstances seem a little overwhelming, your inner state may start to parallel that. You may over-analyze, worry about every little decision, stress over whether you’re doing the right things.
Trust your gut. Learn and adjust as you go, but give yourself a break from the constant overanalyzing—whether the meeting went well enough, or your report was detailed enough, or if you sales calls are compelling enough. Don’t make yourself do the work twice—once in the doing and again in the rehashing.

10. Embrace the chaos.

Nobody forces us to live busy lives. We do it because we want to feel a sense of purpose, commitment, and accomplishment. You may have to maintain a full schedule out of obligation—kids to feed or loans to pay off—but there are a lot of things we could sacrifice if we truly wanted a simpler life.
If you’ve chosen to do various different things, engage with many people, and strive toward numerous goals, realize a lot will feel out of control at times. The more elements you introduce to your life, the more unpredictable the days will be. Sometimes the uncertainty is both the most exciting and terrifying part. Choose to focus on the former. Why fight the game you’ve chosen to play?
What do you do to stay happy and balanced when life gets busy?

LG G Watch and Samsung Gear are live Now

The LG G Watch has begun shipping for some users and the Samsung Gear Live will start shipping next week but Google is apparently working hard to give users the best experience upon release. Google has pushed out software updates for the two Android Wear smartwatches.

The new Android Wear smartwatches are already on the wrists of people who attended the Google I/O and they have just received an update on their devices.
The update build is KMV78V, which is said to be a modified version of Android 4.4 KitKat dubbed as Android 4.4W.
We don’t have a changelog yet but the update is said to be very small, so we can expect the usual bug fixes and improvements. Reportedly, the update fixes an issue on the Samsung Gear Live, which inverted the watch face colors on the display when it was dim.
The update can be downloaded to your Android smartphone and then transferred to your wearable via Bluetooth and then you can install it. Google has already released the Android Wear companion app to the Play Store, so new Android Wear smartwatch owners should feel at ease. Anyone buying the LG G Watch or the Samsung Gear Live or are you waiting for the Moto 360?

iPhone 6 and iPhone Air to launch on 25 Sept,2014

The next generation Apple iPhone is arguably the most awaited iPhone till date, as we expect the biggest design overhaul to iPhone. A new report from China suggests that the Apple iPhone 6 and the so-called iPhone 6 will be launched in September.

According to the report from China.com, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone Air will be
unveiled on the same day and that’s September 25. It contradicts previous reports from carriers, which suggested a September 19 launch for the new iPhones. The phablet iPhone 6 is referred to here as the iPhone Air, which is surely not confirmed but we are sure Apple won’t call it the iPhone 6 phablet.
We have had several iPhone 6 and iPhone Air leaks and Apple fans are surely in for some treat later this year. The new iPhones will also attract people like me who’ve always wanted an iPhone but did not get one because they couldn’t live with the small display.
The last quarter of the year is expected to be Apple’s biggest holiday quarter, thanks to the latest iPhones. The September 25 date isn’t confirmed but we are pretty sure the new iPhones will launch in September. There’s still a couple of months to go but we surely can’t wait....

Google Will Shut Down Its Orkut Social Network In September. How and Why?

Orkut Social network Shut Down
Now it’s final, Google is going to shut down the Orkut Social Network on 30th September of this year.Orkut is the 10 year old social network site of google. Orkut was introduced in the year 2004. Once upon a time, this service was very popular specifically in Brazil, India and Pakistan, but, by the year 2012, it was taken over by Facebook. It was also competing directly with Google’s another product Google+ which was launched during 2011. Google is planning to maintain the data of Orkut, till the year 2016. One cannot migrate data from Orkut to Google+.
The Orkut Social Network users can connect their data to Google+ and they can transfer their photos to Google+ Photos but, they cannot transfer other Orkut  data to Google+. The Orkut mobile app will be removed from Google play and from Apple’s app store. People, who have already downloaded the app, can use its service up to three months, till the service closes.
The initial concept ad growth of Orkut was very stunning.

Orkut never disclosed about the actual number of users world-wide, but published data suggests that about 50.6% of its users were from Brazil, 20.44% came from India, 17.78% were from the United States and 0.86% were from Pakistan.

The origin of Orkut was interesting. Google workers were needed to spend one fifth of their time on ideas which were not necessarily related to their job responsibilities.  Orkut was born as a result of “20 per cent project”. Everything was going well, unless Facebook took over Orkut in the year 2010, as the top social networking site in India with 20.9 million visitors in July that year as compared to Orkut’s 16 per cent growth with 19.9 million visitors according to the “ComScore” research firm. The following graph represents how Orkut fared in comparison to Facebook internationally. You can very well see the specific decline of Orkut from mid 2008.

In this context , it is interesting to note Google’s version of the story. According to a blogpost by the official Orkut blog , “Over the past decade, YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off, with communities springing up in every corner of the world. Because the growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut’s growth, we’ve decided to bid Orkut farewell (or, Tchau). We’ll be focusing our energy and resources on making these other social platforms as amazing as possible for everyone who usesthem.” Beyond data and history, which specifically suggest that Orkut was unable to compete with Facebook, there were many other concerns surrounding Orkut.
Controversies surrounding Orkut:
Fake profiles There were serious issues of Fake Profiles. Fake Profiles make a networking site dead and stagnant. Orkut failed to implement a firm strategy of profile management. People registered tons of fake profiles on Orkut, just like any other social networking site. The inactive jail system resulted in sudden removal/ re-appearance of the profiles. On top of that, many similar profiles were created repeatedly making it a complex and complicated system. Hate groups Initially there was no control over creation of groups. Google never intended to do that. But slowly t created associated legal issues.  During February 2011, many hate communities focusing on racism, Nazism and white supremacy have been deleted. People thought that too little has been done even if it was too late. Repeated incidents are reported worldwide in this context. On March 2006, the Brazilian Federal Justice subpoenaed Google, to explain about the crimes that had occurred in Orkut.Anti-ethnic and anti-national hate groups have also been spotted out. State censorship Orkut repeatedly remained in the center of the storm all long. The dating, match making and sex racketing groups landed Orkut into problems. These resulted in censorship in various States, including Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia etc. Privacy Initially, it was possible for anybody to view any videos, pictures and scraps in Orkut. Gradually, people started misusing these and they started posting them on internet with false details and malafide intentions. Many of those photos and videos were vulgar, especially pictures of girls. Realizing the mistake, Orkut developers , through privacy update, restricted photos, videos and scraps viewing to a certain number of known people and selected e-mail contacts.  But the total incident dented the reputation of Orkut. Safety and security

Safety and security have been always an issue as there were  XSS vulnerability and susceptibility towards  worm. Using these loopholes , there were cases of rampant unauthorized community formation and joining along with impersonation of accounts.

WORM ATTACKS
MW.Orc. Worm created havoc by stealing the banking details, usernames and password of the users by operating through Orkut. The users faced an attack as they launched an executable file disguised as a JPEG file. The malware also ran illegal P2P network in infected PCs using its bandwidth to distribute large, pirated movie files, causing the slow down the speed of the connection.   Then, there was W32/Kutwormer which made users join the virus related groups and in turn infect all their friend’s computer as well. The worm has further spread by Orkut’s later introduced a tool that allowed  users to write messages that contain HTML code. Session management & authentication Susam Pal & Vipul Agarwal published a security advisory on Orkut vulnerabilities, related to authentication issues on June 22, 2007. The vulnerabilities can be used for session hijacking and misuse of legitimate accounts. According to the authors, these vulnerabilities were ever fixed.  In extreme cases, these can lead to hijack Google and Gmail sessions and misuse the account of the user. Legal issues in various countries Usage of Orkut for drug distribution, arranging rave parties, managing child pornography, etc. repeatedly landed Orkut into problems and legal cases in India and Brazil. Then, there were several disclosure issues as most of the main servers were located at US rather than these countries.
TECHNICAL REASONS
Structure
Orkut is developed in  ASP for front-end and Javascript and Open Social at backhand. Application development on such platform is not easy. On top of that, Facebook used PHP based design which made Application development real easy.
Slow interface
Orkut interface is real resource hogging both from the front end and server side. Somehow, Brazil adopted themselves with that slowness and India, being in an opposite time zone to US didn’t experience server side slowness.
Ease of Sharing
Social networks thrive on social sharing  which was virtually missing in Orkut. Plugins, which offer quick and easy sharing was missing from Orkut. Therefore, anyone who needs to share something should have Orkut opened in other tab.
Search
One cannot access Orkut profiles, without logging in. The in-built search engine does not show result with names of the persons.
Promotion
There is no facility of page creation (Like Facebook Page or Google Plus page) in Orkut. This frustrated the business promoters.  Ads are possible to be created on Orkut but there was no provision to generate a public link so that anybody can view it.
Entertainment
The heart of Social Networking is fun and entertainment before communication. Orkut, having very less entertainment provision soon faded in front of Facebook which focused on entertainment. Later, Facebook went miles ahead becoming a pioneer in social communication also.
Conclusion:
Apart from all the above, some of the external entities indirectly contributed to Orkut’s downfall. One such interesting proposition was MYORKUT application which could connect user’s Orkut Social Network profile to Facebook profile helping them to see their Orkut friends and read scraps from within  Facebook without logging in the Orkut account.
